I Wish

I wish to be brave

I wish to be wise

I wish to be someone

Cracked up with life

I wish to be fair

I wish to be me

I wish to love me

For all I have been

I wish to succeed

I wish to believe

I want to live

That’s all I need

I want to trust 

I wish to be loved

Or simply admired

Why? I don’t know

I wish I was good

Or mearly enough

Or the best one of all

But hell, I cannot

I want to try hard

Sometimes I do

Just to find out

It’s hard to get through

I wish to be smart

I wish to understand

I wish to be fast, witty and bright

But most of all

More than you’ll know

I wish to be happy

That’s all I know
